Recently, the NFL did its official schedule release for all 32 teams. Here, I will go game-by-game and predict the outcome for the 2025 New England Patriots.
Week 1 vs. Raiders: WIN
The Patriots will open the season at home this year against the new-look Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders added Pete Carrol as their head coach, and Geno Smith at quarterback.
Another interesting side note is that Tom Brady is a part-owner of the Raiders. Will he be at the game?
I think the Patriots will win 21-18. With this revamped Patriots roster and coaching staff, I expect them to come out and make a statement. However, fans should not underestimate the Raiders here. I think this matchup is 50/50 with a slight edge towards the Pats.
Week 2 @ Dolphins: LOSS
Hardrock Stadium is absolutely cursed for the Patriots. Nothing good ever happens in South Beach, especially this early in the year.
I predict that the Patriots will lose 25-13.
Week 3 vs. Steelers: WIN
This is a game that is hard to predict, especially because the Steelers’ quarterback situation is still unknown.
I have a ton of respect for Pittsburgh’s ability to stay relevant year after year. But having no quarterback against a Mike Vrabel-led defense this early in the season is a recipe for disaster.
I think this will be a low-scoring game. I have the Patriots winning 13-6.
Week 4 vs. Panthers: WIN
Not much to say here. Panthers suck, Patriots hopefully won’t.
I think this game has the potential to produce a breakout performance from Drake Maye.
He will have had time to get used to Josh McDaniels’ offense, Stefon Diggs will settle in, and the Panthers are a weak team overall.
I got the Patriots winning 35-17.
Week 5 @ Bills: LOSS
The Patriots have historically played well in Buffalo, even going back to last year, despite having a wretched roster.
But, with this being a primetime slot against an objectively better team, it’s hard not to pick the Bills here.
The Bills will win 24-14.
Week 6 @ Saints: WIN
This game will serve as a nice bounce-back game for the Pats after a tough matchup in Buffalo.
It seems like the Saints will have Tyler Shough as their starting quarterback. And, well, that’s another recipe for disaster against a Vrabel defense.
Give me the Patriots, 21-10.
Week 7 @ Titans: WIN
This game will serve as Vrabel’s revenge game against the team that prematurely fired him.
I was hesitant to pick the Patriots, as they lost in Nashville last year, and this will be their third straight road game. But, with the Vrabel factor, I lean Patriots.
I think the Pats will win 20-17.
Week 8 vs. Browns: WIN
I really wonder who the Browns’ quarterback will be for this game. Interestingly enough, I think that Shedeur Sanders gives them the best chance, because I think he could do a good job of limiting turnovers.
That being said, the Browns are the Browns. Give me the Patriots, 20-10.
Week 9 vs. Atlanta: LOSS
While I feel like the Patriots should be at the Falcons, this will be the one game this year where they lose to an inferior team. Happens to everyone.
Give me the Falcons, 24-17.
Week 10 @ Buccaneers: LOSS
The Patriots’ four-game winning streak will end here.
Baker Mayfield, Todd Bowles, and the Bucs are just further ahead in their team’s development.
And with this being on the road in Florida, it’s just hard to pick the Patriots.
I think the Bucs will win 17-10.
Week 11 vs. Jets: WIN
Last time the Patriots faced Justin Fields at home in prime time, he whooped them.
But now he’s on the Jets. So… give me the Patriots, 23-10.
Week 12 @ Bengals: LOSS
The Patriots shocked the world last year by beating the Bengals on the road to begin the season.
But in this Week 12 matchup, Cincinnati will have fully settled into the season.
Plus, the Patriots still haven’t had a bye, which could affect them.
The Bengals will win 27-14.
Week 13 vs. Giants: WIN
The Giants are terrible. Patriots will win 27-14.
Week 14 BYE
Finally.
Week 15 vs. Bills: LOSS
With this being a home game after a bye, I think the Patriots’ upset is in play.
But I just can’t bet against Josh Allen late in the season.
Vrabel’s defense might make it interesting with this being their second time facing Buffalo, so give me the Bills winning 17-14.
Week 16 @ Ravens: LOSS
The Patriots have a tough stretch to end the season.
The Ravens are just a clearly better team, and they’ll be at home in Baltimore. The Ravens will win 27-17.
Week 17 @ Jets: WIN
Oh, the Jets. The perfect team to get a bounce-back win against.
Patriots will win 24-15.
Week 18 vs. Dolphins: WIN
I said earlier that playing in Miami against the Dolphins is always tough for the Pats. Well, playing at home against Dolphins is much easier.
The Patriots will win the season-closer 22-15.
Record: 10-7
Shockingly, I have the Patriots going from a four-win team to going 10-7 and likely making the playoffs.
Now, do I think they’re drastically better?
I think the coaching staff is. On the field, I think the improvements are less pronounced, but certainly there.
They get to 10 wins because their schedule is a layup. I mean, a complete cupcake slate of games.
Anything less than nine wins is a failure in my opinion, given how easy the road ahead looks.
